Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Shy but SweetBETTINA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name: Bettina        Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix   Best Guess for Age: 6 years as of June 2025         SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight: 22 lbs   Videos of Bettina: https://youtube.com/shorts/52kyi-qDEmg, https://youtube.com/shorts/Fjw9z0hLTUg   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!Special adoption considerations: This dog was rescued from a breeding operation that is shutting its doors. She has not been well socialized with new people and has lived her whole life with other dogs.  New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety.  She will need a patient adopter who can give her time to come out of their shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place. And because she is shy, she is REQUIRED to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes. Bettina is Looking For:  Her forever home, filled with snuggles and opportunities to see the world outside of a kennel. One where she is a cherished part of a family. She's very sweet, shy, and SO ready to be a Real Dog. Extra patient and loving humans who introduce her to new places and people at her pace and a welcoming resident dog who will show her how to dog are high on her wish list! Along with quality kibble, a cushy dog bed, and endless snuggles. And one more thing: That type of coat is high maintenance. It needs daily brushing and professional grooming. Mats hurt. You know what you get out of adopting a dog like that? An incredibly sweet and grateful dog who gives you all those adoring gazes, all the love and loyalty in her body, for all her days. What do you say? Is she the one for you? Are you her new chapter and forever home? What My Foster Says About Me: Bettina is still learning to open up and, right now, prefers to hang out in her open crate. It took her a couple of days to start eating and drinking but she's doing well now. When she goes outside, she typically sniffs around the yard, then finds a place to hide but she does well on leash walks. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Please contact Lowell Nelson (lowelln@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Happy Boy looking a New Loving Home DANTE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!    Name:   Dante         Best Guess for Breed:   Standard Poodle Best Guess for Age:   2 yrs 4 months as of June 2025          SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   47 lbs   Gets Along With:  All people, including kids! We haven't seen him with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Special Adoption Considerations:   Dante arrived from Puerto Rico fairly recently and is still adjusting to his completely new environment.   He is showing a clear preference for humans during this adjustment. At this time, we recommend that Dante be the only dog in the home.    Currently Living at:   DC Foster   Dante is Looking For:    A family who will give him all the love he deserves!  He's had quite the ride...his elderly owner in Puerto Rico was unable to take care of him, and had tied him outside.  A generous neighbor offered to find a better situation for him, took him to the vet, and asked for help from our Puerto Rico partner, Love for Satos, to find him a better home!  He's a happy boy who looks forward to a family who will give him plenty of opportunities to walk, run, and play, and who wants to snuggle once the day is done.   Could you be the one to start his next chapter?  What My Foster Says About Me:   Dante is the perfect mix of playful and laid-back. He’s calm and relaxed in the house but always ready for an adventure when it’s time for a walk or a trip to the dog park. Dante is incredibly friendly, great with people of all ages, and eager to please—especially when treats are involved! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
