Story
Hi, I'm Akron Lhasa Apso Shih Tzu | Baby | Male | Small About Me Akron is the first of five puppies born to Fiona (the bestest Mom!) on 04/27/25!! He is a happy, fluffy poofball with the cutest little polar bear booty!! He is estimated to be about 12-15lbs when he’s full grown and he will need to be groomed every 8 weeks!! He will be neutered on 07/25/25 and will be available to go home with his new family soon after. He will be up to date with age-appropriate shots. Due to his size and puppy mouthing, we prefer he goes to a home with adults or teenage children. He will chew inappropriate things as he is still teething. He will need to be given alternatives to teach him right from wrong. This will require lots of patience!! Akron is not crate-trained. He has been kept in an x-pen for a few hours each day and at night along with his brothers. He is not house-trained, we are currently using pee pee pads and have been taking him outside at intervals. He will need continued work on housetraining. Again, this will require lots of patience!! Since he is a small dog, he will most likely live to be 15+ years. This requires a long-term commitment and an adopter that understands the cost of owning a puppy. Because of his young age, we prefer he goes to a home where someone is home most of the day so they can continue to work on his house-training and all the other training a puppy needs. He will benefit from puppy socialization and basic training classes as well. He currently lives with his 4 brothers and the foster’s 4 small dogs. Because he has been with other dogs since birth, we feel he should go to a home with other pets as he loves to play a lot and to cuddle with his brothers when its time for bed. He is affectionate boy that likes to give kisses and has been good with every person he’s met. We require a fenced yard for Akron. His adoption fee is $450 and we will not be adopting him with any of his siblings. Experienced adopter required. My Profile Age: 10 weeks as of 7/6/2025 Weight: 2.65lbs as of 7/6/2025 Good with kids: Yes, kids over 12 Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes for townhouse, but no for apartment House trained: No Crate trained: No Barks when left alone: Initially Chews inappropriate items: Yes Activity level: Medium-High Meet Me If you are interested in Akron, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org/adopt. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Akron will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Hi, I'm Toldeo Lhasa Apso Shih Tzu | Baby | Male | Small About Me Toledo is the 4th of five puppies born on 04/27/25 to Fiona (the bestest Mom!). He was the runt of the litter and is now the heaviest puppy. He is a beautiful chocolate color with greenish/brown eyes and white “socks” on 3 of his 4 paws. He is the little adventurer of the litter and likes to give his fosters a heart-attack by always “playing hide-and-seek”..lol. He is estimated to be about 12-18lbs when he’s full grown and he will need to be groomed every 8 weeks!! He will be neutered on 07/25/25 and will be available to go home with his new family soon after. He will be up to date with age-appropriate shots. Because he has been with other dogs since birth, we feel he should go to a home with other pets as he loves to run and play with other dogs. He is also good at going off and exploring on his own. He loves spending time outside but should never be left unattended due to his size and adventurous spirit. He also is affectionate and generous with the kisses. We require a fenced yard for Toledo. Hi, I'm Dayton Lhasa Apso Shih Tzu | Baby | Male | Small About Me Dayton is the last of five puppies born to Fiona (the bestest Mom!), but he wanted to “stand out” so he waited a few hours so he could be born on 04/28/25! He’s affectionately known as “Day Day” or “Fat Albert” (due to his size – does anyone besides his foster know who that is)?? He has the thickest and silkiest fur of all the boys and the most beautiful green eyes you’ve ever seen on a little fluffy fluff!! He is estimated to be about 12-18lbs when he’s full grown and he will need to be groomed every 8 weeks!! He will be neutered on 07/25/25 and will be available to go home with his new family soon after. He will be up to date with age-appropriate shots. Because he has been with other dogs since birth, we feel he should go to a home with other pets as he loves to play with other dogs although he does seem to be a little more independent. He is the easiest and most chill of the 5 puppies. He can always be found lying under the bed or near an AC vent when he’s not playing. And just like his brothers, he is an affectionate boy that likes attention and likes to give kisses. We require a fenced yard for Dayton. His adoption fee is $450 and we will not be adopting him with any of his siblings. Experienced adopter required. Story
Meet Fiona Hi, I'm Fiona Lhasa Apso Poodle | Adult | Female | Small About Me They don’t come any sweeter than Fiona! Fiona, also known as Mama Fi, was rescued from a local shelter. The very next day, she gave birth to five puppies!! Fi does great with other dogs, she is living with several small dogs (besides her pups) in her foster family’s home. But her true connection is with people. She bonds very quickly and strongly to her humans! She wants to be by her person’s side or on their lap all the time. She is sweet and affectionate, and loves to give kisses. She will happily greet you when you arrive home every day and does the best little tippy taps to be picked up! You can’t help but smile when you are around Fiona. While everyone is clamoring away about her puppies (and they are cute), we urge you to not overlook Mama Fi! We believe she is 7 years old, so she is past the puppy chewing stage. She is mostly house trained (has had the occasional accident) and she still has many years of love to give. When you meet Fiona, you will notice one of her paws has a deformity. She also has lost vision in one of her eyes. She does not let either of these things stop her. She loves to play and go on walks and will do a happy little dance when she gets excited. Her enthusiasm is contagious and there is nothing better at the end of the day than to have this adorable girl curl up in your lap. My Profile Age: 7 Weight: 10 Good with kids: Unknown Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard: No Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: Yes House trained: Mostly Crate trained: No Barks when left alone: Initially Chews inappropriate items: No Activity level: Low-Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Fiona, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org/adopt. Story
🐾 Meet Max Max spent over five years living outside — exposed to the elements, overlooked by the world, and surviving the only way he knew how. Through it all, his one constant was his brother, Teddy. They curled up beside each other on cold nights, braved storms together, and found quiet comfort in simply not being alone. Now safe in foster care, Max is finally learning what it means to feel secure, loved, and part of a home. With time, patience, and routine, he has made incredible progress. Once he trusts you, Max is a total cuddle bug who stays right by your side, soaking in affection and finding joy in simply being near his person. 🦴 Crate trained 🚗 Great in the car 🏠 House & potty trained 🎓 Food motivated and eager to learn new tricks Max and Teddy are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Their connection runs deep, forged through years of surviving with no one but each other. Separating them would only cause distress and undo the healing they’ve worked so hard to achieve. Together, they feel safe, confident, and whole. 🏡 Max and Teddy need a calm, adult-only home with someone who is either experienced with dogs or willing to learn and follow our support and guidance. We will be with you every step of the way to ensure a successful transition and happy life for both. Max is discovering that love is real — and together with Teddy, he’s ready to begin the next chapter of his life: one filled with safety, trust, and lifelong companionship. 📩 Interested in adopting Max & Teddy?
