Story
Meet Tank Carter! Tank Carter  is looking for a calm home to help him recover and heal. Tank is a very lovable labrador mix who was unfortunately diagnosed with Heartworms. He is currently undergoing treatments, and will be so until into the late winter or early spring. Since he is undergoing treatments, he is not available for adoption, however he is searching for a dedicated foster to give him a comfy place to undergo treatment. Tank weighs roughly 45lbs. He is great with other dogs. If you already have any other dogs in the home, a meet and greet would be required prior to taking Tank home.  His foster would be responsible for giving Tank his oral medications as directed, and bringing him to the shelter for check-ins and injections. Tank needs a home that is able to give him love, security, and a calm place for him to rest. All medications and treatments are covered by the Humane Society. If you are interested, please call 615-446-7387.  ##2131914##

Story
Meet Harvest! Harvest, who goes by Harvey, is ready to find a permanent place to call home. Harvey is a handsome labrador retriever mix, with an estimated birthday of 10/31/2020. He weighs in at a hefty 60lbs or so, although he is shorter in stature than your average lab. Harvey sports a silky smooth butter-colored coat, and this guy will never hesitate to show you his big happy smile. If you were to ask our staff their favorite things about Harvey, you'd get one of many answers. A popular one is how when he's excited, Harvey turns into a four-legged tap dancer an will stomp his paws in excitement. He can also be a great conversationalist, and will respond to your talks to him when he's in the mood. Harvey also has an endless love of playtime and toys, he loves to run around and exercize in our play yard. Although Harvey does well with other dogs, he much prefers to be the star of the show so he can have all the attention to himself. If you are thinking about adding Harvey to a home with other pups already, a meet and greet is required. Harvey is best suited to a home with no kids under 10 years, due to his rough and tumble playstyle. He is also suited to a cat free home.  Harvey is fully vetted, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $125 Interested? Call 615-446-7387 ##1877455##

Story
Meet Lip! This sweet boy is looking for a home to offer him some comfort. Lip is a handsome 31 flavors mixed breed, with an estimated birthday of 11/01/2020, weighing around 50lbs. Lip is the most gentle and loving soul, and just wants someone to give him the snuggles and affection he desperately craves. Lip loves the company of other dogs, but as always a meet and greet is required if you already have any in the family. He has not yet been tested with cats, but his easy-going and relaxed demeanor makes him a wonderful dog for a family with kids. Lip has a rough and tragic history, when he was a much younger pup he was ruthlessly shot in one of his rear legs, just weeks after he had been hit by a car and injured that same leg. Unfortunately, he was never able to recieve proper vet care for these injuries, and it would now be much riskier to attempt to repair his leg. Although he uses his leg with little to no problems, in the colder weather, or if Lip has been particularly active, you may notice a little stiffness or a slightly odd rythm to Lip's gait. He has been examined by one of our trusted vets, and they agreed that intervention after so long would likely do more harm than good. Aside from him being predisposed to getting arthritis in that leg, they reccomended leaving it be.  To add to his story, poor Lip is positive for Heartworms. He has started his treatment and we can tell he's already feeling better, but he still has a ways to go before he gets a clean bill of health. Currently, Lip is looking for a loving foster home to care for him through his treatment and give him a more secure and comfortable place while he recovers and fights the deadly parasites. For the duration of the foster care, HSDC will provide any and all medications, and will guide the foster through the heartworm treatment process step-by-step. Mostly, his foster's job is to give him lots of love and treats!  If you are interested in fostering Lip and want more information, call 615-446-7387 or visit our shelter at 311 Tennsco Drive in Dickson.  ##2234162##

Story
Meet Sammy and Dean! Sammy (red) and Dean (green) are two knockout brothers looking for their forever home together. They are hound mixes with an estimated birthay of 04/03/2021, each in the 60-65lbs range. They adopted out from us as a pair as they were too cute to split! They lived together in their home until about April of 2025, when they were returned to us at no fault of their own. These handsome boys have grown into playful and happy dogs, always on the hunt for new friends to meet. Although at first glance you may not be able to tell one from the other, you'll notice that Sammy is much shorter than Dean! Sammy and Dean are totally inseparable, but enjoy the company of others too! They were raised with other dogs and with children. They were raised around cats, but never directly interacted. They are both fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. Interested? Call 615-446-7387 ##1113842##
