We took her immediately to our specialty vet clinic and they determined that she was not a candidate for surgery. So we had to put her through PT to teach her to spine walk (Spinal walking (SW) occurs when a paralyzed dog with no pain sensation or feeling in their legs learns to walk and stand through reflex.) Luna is doing very well and is also getting Laser and Acupuncture. She will never walk normal but she has learned to walk instead of dragging her back legs. She is a very determined little lady and she deserves a home where they appreciate her wiliness to keep working to strengthen those legs. Our must haves for her are: A fenced in yard Someone home more than not Someone with IVDD experience Another small young dog for her to hang with No apartments, high rises or condos and she needs that fenced yard to get out and continue to strengthen her back leg and when out she is FAST Because of her back issue, please don’t just look at her coloring and want her for that, the adopter will need to have the experience of having a downed dog and knowing how to express a bladder. If you do not have this experience then please do not apply. If you do have the experience and want more info before applying for her you can email her foster mom aadrpresident@gmail.com and she’ll be happy to answer any questions that you have.     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Frankie is a sweet boy.  He does like to play a little but can also chill with an older smaller dog to keep him company.  Frankie would not be a candidate for a home that does not have another smaller dog.  He would be too anxious. He gets along fine with male and female dogs his size and is ok with cats.  Our must haves for Frankie are: Fenced in yard Someone that could be home more than not or work from home Another young to adult small dog, male or female Cats if dog savvy but a dog to keep him company if you go out would be best No apartments, high rises or condos If you want to find out more about Frankie and if he would be a good fit for your home, then send us an email.  We’ll let you know all about Frankie but remember this has to be his last home.  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Story
We have had Dodger for about 15yrs. He was a rescue that my wife fell in love with. He has been a good dog but 100% my wife's dog. Recently, my wife passed away and I am not home that often to care and give him much attention. So finding him a more suitable home would be nice. He is an older dog but still full of energy and loves people. He is a kind dog. He has never bitten anyone. He is a very much a lap dog.
